Dead Rose, Dead Romance
Image from WikipediaDry, brittle petals
Fragrance faded like your love
Dead rose, dead romance
Not sure why I wrote this . . . the only person I would really ever count as the love of my life didn't leave me totally devastated. . . I guess it's because I am staring at these roses that I dried and kept as decoration - but these roses are from various occasions: my sister's college graduation, get-well bouquets when I was going through cancer treatment. No flowers from past loves.

Why Are You Crying?
Jesus asked Mary,
"Woman, why are you crying?"
Christ revealed Himself.
Easter service was about the Resurrection story. I liked the message because it underlined how we often are so wrapped up in our grief and sorrows we don't see Christ/God reaching out to us. Mary didn't recognize Jesus at first when he spoke to her because of the tears in her eyes. We often don't see God's love and touch because of the tears in our own eyes, the hurt in our hearts, and the fear in our minds.

Xylophone Memory
Colored metal bars
Her xylophone memory
Our musical past
My sister shared the other day that one of her most vivid memories is one of me teaching her to play "Hot Cross Buns" on a little xylophone we had as kids.

March Romance
Orange-blossom breeze
Phantom kisses on my brow
Nature's March romance
I absolutely love Florida in March and April. The breezes blow with orange blossom perfume. It's just one of the most wonderful things you can ever smell during the most wonderful weather in Florida

Alanna's Backache
Sister's back is out.
She can barely move around.
She's at my mercy.
My sister hurt her back yesterday and can barely move. She's no cry baby, so when I heard her weeping I knew she was hurting. Her appendix burst when she was a teenager. She barely complained - we didn't know how sick she was. She ALMOST DIED from it and was in the hospital for a month. So, when I say Sissy is no sissy when it comes to pain, you know it's true. Her back must really be hurting her. Poor sister, huh?

Agonizing Itch
Irritated skin
Phantom bugs crawling on me
Agonizing itch
Ever since I had radiation therapy, my skin is a bit nutso. I am having a itchy patch on some of my skin that was particularly cooked back during treatment. There are moments that I just have to let out a short, quiet scream.

Writing at Work
So much writing and
So little inspiration:
Writing on the job.
I like to write for my job - press releases and marketing copy - but at times you feel a little blah about it. I think working in the same company for 13 years can do that to a person. I just have to shake up my perspective and get a fresh angle on things.
